Permanent, immutable backup — on us
Your encrypted wallet is written once to Arweave's decentralized network — unchangeable, undeletable, retrievable forever. Network fees are fully covered by Vaulty.
- Network: ArweaveA decentralized storage network — data written once, kept forever.
- Fee-free for youAll Arweave & Irys network fees are paid by Vaulty's operator wallet. No SOL, no AR, nothing extra.
- Forever retrievableUsed only if your fast Drive copy is unavailable — always there as a last-resort restore.
What it is
Arweave is a decentralized storage network where data is written once and kept forever — like a sealed, public archive that no one (not even us) can edit or delete. We store only an encrypted bundle of your wallet — never readable data.
How it works
When you finish creating or restoring a wallet, Vaulty seals it into a single encrypted bundle and uploads it via Irys to Arweave. A tiny memo on Solana records the Arweave reference so it's publicly verifiable. The bundle is deduplicated by content hash, so we never re-upload the same data twice.
Who pays the fees
Every Arweave and Irys network fee is paid by our Solana operator wallet — not you. There are no SOL, AR, gas or subscription charges to your wallet. Permanent backup is included with Vaulty.
How it's secured
Your wallet is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before the bundle ever leaves your browser, and is salted with a unique per-user key so two users' bundles are never identical. Vaulty never sees, stores, or can decrypt the contents.
When you'd use it
Only needed for full account recovery — if your Drive copy is missing or corrupted, Vaulty silently falls back to the permanent backup, verifies its integrity, and restores your wallet on your device. You can see the status and open the on-chain proof from your Sync & Backup panel.
A simple comparison
Think of permanent backup like a sealed, public archive. Anyone can see the envelope is there — but only you hold the key to open it. The archive is run by the Arweave network, so no single company (including Vaulty) can change, remove, or hide it.
Where to see status
Open My Account → Sync & Backup. The Permanent backup row shows whether your wallet has been written, with a direct link to the on-chain Viewblock explorer page so you can verify the Arweave transaction yourself.
